What Set up does. Pomeroy opens the Claude extension it ships with, and
Claude Desktop shows its own install prompt. Approve it. Nothing is written to
Claude’s configuration file.
Set up
1
Install Pomeroy and switch on your apps
Download Pomeroy, drag it into Applications
and open it. Switch on the apps you want Claude Desktop to reach. Everything
starts off, and macOS asks you to approve each app as you switch it on. The
full walkthrough.
2
Install Claude Desktop, if you have not
Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Claude
Desktop first if it is not there. Returning to
Pomeroy’s window re-checks.
3
Press Set up
In Pomeroy’s Assistants pane, find Claude Desktop and press Set up.
It is safe to press any number of times. It writes the same thing every
time, and it never disturbs another server already there.
4
Pick it up
Quit Claude Desktop and open it again. It reads its server list only at
launch.
5
Ask something
In Claude Desktop, ask what is on your calendar today. The answer comes from
your Mac.
The configuration
There is none to paste. Claude Desktop’s route is the bundled extension: Pomeroy opens the file and Claude Desktop installs it, so nothing is written to a configuration file of yours. What the extension is.Over the local endpoint
Not available. Claude Desktop’s connectors are brokered through Anthropic’s cloud, so an address on your Mac’s own loopback is not reachable from them. The extension is the route, and it needs no address. The two ways in.How to check it worked
In Claude Desktop, open Settings › Extensions and Pomeroy is listed. In a new chat, the tools menu under the message box shows Pomeroy’s tools, one set for each app you switched on. If the tools are missing, the cause is almost always that the assistant has not re-read its server list. Troubleshooting.Worth knowing about Claude Desktop
The extension is Anthropic’s preferred route for a local server, and the one Pomeroy has shipped since its first release. Claude Desktop reads a new extension only after a full quit and reopen. What it can reach
Only the apps you switched on, and only through the tools Pomeroy publishes. Claude Desktop cannot send mail, send a message, delete anything or edit a contact, because no tool does those things. What Pomeroy can do
Ten apps, 27 tools, and every refusal.
Permissions
What each toggle grants, and what macOS asks you for.
Other assistants
All 24, and what to do if yours is not listed.
